Transparency and Blur

You can apply subtle white transparencies between 5–15% opacity on top of a blurred background to create a dynamic, layered visual hierarchy. Depending on the darkness of the background, both black and white transparencies can be used to achieve the right level of contrast and depth.

Edge highlights

To subtly differentiate multiple containers within a layout, apply a vibrant brand accent colour to a single edge. Use only the existing colour palette and keep the treatment consistent across elements, avoiding the introduction of new or mismatched colours.

Corner radius

Rounded corners create a softer, more approachable look while keeping the design clean and modern. A radius of around 16px works well for most small components, scaled up proportionally for larger elements. Avoid making corners so rounded that they appear overly soft or playful—balance is key to maintaining a professional, contemporary feel.

Document margins

Measure the shortest edge of your document and calculate 10% of that value to determine your margin size. This ensures consistent and balanced spacing across different formats.

Logo placement

The logo can be aligned centrally, vertically, or centre-left, depending on the context and layout.

Logo sizing

The logo should be scaled in proportion to the headline. Use either 1× or 0.5× the height of a lowercase “x” as your guide. 1× works best for smaller formats where the logo risks becoming too small, while 0.5× is ideal for layouts with more space and large, impactful headlines.

Layout options

Below are a range of layout options shown across both landscape and portrait formats. These are indicative examples that demonstrate the flexibility of the visual system, showing how you might choose between a full graphical background, a clean white layout, or the use of blur depending on the context. They also illustrate how different accent colours, graphic elements, typographic treatments, and content positioning can be combined to create variation while maintaining a consistent and cohesive overall look and feel.
